Madonna at the Met Gala
A recent article caught my eye. It was originally in the Wall Street Journal but you can find it here.
It was about what it means to dress your age and perhaps dressing to deny your age. It focused on Madonna who is 54. She likes to show off her toned, slender body and the way she does it projects a certain image. She is a pop star who, no matter her age, dresses to provoke. And it seems at times that she is attempting to prove that she is still as hot as she was 25 years ago. And that may be true!
This seems to get at what dressing your age is really all about. It's not necessarily a question of what you can pull off or what's appropriate but what image you want to project. No matter who you are, how old, or what size you are, you can definitely say something with what you wear.
I say the best thing you can put out there is maturity, confidence, tenacity, serenity and ease.
